The Best Coaches Have Coaches (And Why I Hired One)
You know how the saying goes: The mechanic's car is always broken, and the baker never has a fresh loaf. Well, as a fitness expert and business owner, my biggest challenge wasn't running a plank—it was figuring out my own plan when I was too close to the problem. I take Pilates classes, but I miss picking heavy things up and putting them down. I got wicked into my head (shocker). It's time to reel it in and stop overthinking it. It’s time for the “expert” to hire outside of herself because sometimes we all need a little help from our friends.
THE TWO KEY REASONS I NEED A COACH
Accountability: A coach is my non-negotiable appointment. I know that I will do my other lifting days in the week when I know I’m going to be seeing my trainer. Yes, yes, we can all discuss internal motivation blah blah blah. But, like you, I sometimes also need external motivation! Dedication takes us far and sometimes? We all just need a little structure!
Objectivity: My own programming is subject to your mood, ego, or what's easy. A coach sees my bad habits and blind spots and gives me a roadmap that actually challenges me. And, for me, I also know it’s entirely possible I will be VERY hard on myself that I’m not in the lifting shape I once was and push myself a little harder than is safe. My trainer is in for a world of fun in dealing with me…
Core Thought: This is a lesson in efficiency. Paying for a coach saves me time and brainpower I can now dedicate to my own clients (and family!). This is going to allow me to stay strong in my wellness journey through the holidays.
HOLIDAY PROOF-ING YOUR FITNESS SCHEDULE
(Spoiler alert: Might I suggest working with me???)
Having a trainer is freeing up brainpower, providing external motivation that’s helping to jumpstart my internal motivation, and helping me run (not literally) toward my goals.
If you’re like me and have been trying to “DIY” your fitness and feel stuck, it’s time for an outside eye. With the holidays coming up, this can be the time where we let ourselves take the backseat. Even a few minutes a week is better than no minutes a week and let me help you navigate this season and into the new year. Hint hint: If you sign a 3-month commitment with me in the month of November (2025), you’ll get a code for 15% off! Just reference this post when chatting with me!
Holiday proofing your own wellness is never the wrong idea. Investing in a coach isn't a sign of weakness; it's the ultimate act of self-respect. It says, “My health and my time are too valuable to waste on trial-and-error. Stop fixing your own engine. Let a pro take the wheel."
